Shelter of the Sacred

We are the shelter of the sacred

No one is coming to save us from ourselves

We are the ones doing the saving

We cannot save ourselves by sleeping

We cannot save each other by angering

We cannot save the earth through complaining

Saving begins in the innermost temple

In the hidden places many of us have neglected

Shelter of the Sacred

Dear One,

We are the shelter of the sacred

No one is coming to save us from ourselves

We are the ones doing the saving

We cannot save ourselves by sleeping

We cannot save each other by angering

We cannot save the earth through complaining

Saving begins in the innermost temple

In the hidden places many of us have neglected

Oh, my precious friends!

We are remembering now, aren’t we?

Don’t you feel that flow of life,

that fire of the spirit moving in fierce tenderness?

Regardless of what they say about the end of things,

We know we are ever and always the beginning.

We really do have all the support we need for what’s next

Let’s enter into collaboration with that support

The coherent message of divine order is ever-present

We know what to do

We must remember our assignment:

We are the shelter of the sacred

When it all feels like too much,

Tend the temple within and let that move out from you

See it reaching the others, still sleeping

See our communities waking and gathering

We have never been here before

Yet many of us walk here together,

Along the edges of the uncharted map of the future

When we find each other, we can celebrate:

There you are! I have missed you!

To tend your own garden isn’t some ‘good idea’

This tending is essential so that we might move mountains

Remember who you are ~ Remember why you came

Many of us, now, remembering and showing up

May the Creator of All reveal us to ourselves

May we dance in between each impossible space

Our bodies and hearts and minds leaping ahead

Keeping time with the soul~birds in the cosmos

Come my friends, it is time to gather ourselves together!

The Council of the Sacred is upon us, in each home,

in each building, in each heart, in each garden, in each land,

in each hand, in each conversation, in each agreement,

in each moment – we are calling this Circle!

Waking this morning to read about the Paris Agreement, and the United States not being a part of it, and this heart-sinking, feeling, this poem just spilled out. I was sitting in the hot tub early in the morning, my body meditation as I continue to heal back stuff. I was listening to the birds announce the day…and I saw a vision in my mind of an Elder, which represented all of us, yelling at the lake for answers…so desperate…I just saw and felt this in my whole being – and fought the desperation within myself. Begging, asking water, asking tree, asking rock, asking sky, asking Creator, and all of creations for answers…where do we turn? What’s happening? How could this happen? Where are our checks and balance? Do they exist? When the Elder shifted from anger to sorrow, his/her tears fell into the water – then the voice of the lake rose up and began to instruct on what to do next.

An action you can take today if you choose is to sign the petition, We the People, of the United States, sign onto the Paris Agreement here.

You can also share the poem and painting from my Facebook page here to provide encouragement for others.

Each of us has to find our way to working with the future, we together are creating. For me, many times that is focused in creating events and experiences that nourish and encourage us for the journey. Tomorrow evening we are having a concert and poetry reading.

We are also planning for our first PRISM – Leadership Retreat at the ranch – which really looks at how to live our lives from the perspective of being in alignment with creation. We have taught it in many locations – but not here – so we are excited to have 4 luxurious days to explore this amazing context.

At the bottom of the Red Thread Letter I am sharing something I wrote for Jonathan, my love, HWY 2U in thinking about – what is it I really want him to know. Things feel so precarious – and precious, don’t they?

Blessings dear heart, RIGHT where you are, this love is with you.
