Calling In The Sparkle
ave you had the experience of the very AIR around you changing, seeming different- both in moments of bliss and pain? Times of miracles and grieving and transformations are moments when the air seems to me compressed and released and anointed with sparkle from On High. I have often wondered, since pain and miracles seem like something we can neither call on nor predict, but can certainly expect to show up -though with no idea when… is there a way to cause or call on the Sparkle from On High as needed? The answer of course is no and yes. Sparkle from on High is grace in its many sorted forms.

The day when I was called forth from the sleep of making a living into the wake of making a life worth living, so much light and perception came that I almost lost my balance for the radiance of it. It wasn’t my light – I was just allowed to view it as Mama Mary pulled back the beaded curtain long enough for me to see and realize I had work to do here. I was called, but to what…I didn’t have yet words for the “what”.

ANSWERING YOUR CALLING
Every single one of us has a calling.
Answering that calling is real medicine…while not answering often leads to illness and sorrow. Or even to the worse kind of illness: irrelevance…invisibility…listlessness…restlessness….despair…
Now you and I know that just because we begin to listen and answer we will not be instantly whole and completely well! Poets, artists and musicians are evidence that following the call, however illuminating to the soul, does not mean miracle healing. No. But, there is a very palpable experience of healing for those of us who answer. As Martha Graham in a letter to Agnes De Mille says so well:
“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action…”
